Granite was formed billions of years ago all over the world
and in a vast array of colors and patterns. Granite varies
in color from slab to slab and from the color pattern of a
sample you may have seen, and in some instances, will vary
in the same piece. Because of its natural variation, you can
pick out a slab at a recommended near by quarry. This character
and uniqueness to each individual slab assures a one of a
kind countertop. A component of the color and pattern of granite
are pits and fissures. These natural pits and fissures are
filled with resins to improve the strength and appearance
of the stones with these characteristics.
Silestone: Built-in Microban Antimicrobial
Product Protection
Through superior strength, incredible beauty and an unparalleled
distribution network, Silestone is rapidly becoming the surfacing
choice for discerning consumers. Here are the top reasons
why:
· Microban Antimicrobial Protectiona
proven deterrent to the growth of bacteria that can cause
stains, odors, and product deterioration!
· Natural beautythe natural quartz in
Silestone delivers a distinctive depth, brilliant clarity,
glimmering radiance and cool, solid feel unique to natural
stones!
· Versatilityit can be used in virtually
any indoor surface application, including kitchen countertops,
bathroom vanities, tub and shower surrounds, backsplashes,
floors, walls, wet bars, tabletops, desktops, fireplace surrounds,
and more!
· Scratch-Resistanceonly diamond, sapphire
and topaz are harder than quartz, making it naturally scratch-resistant.
So, while a careless slip of the knife will scratch most other
countertops such as laminates and some granite, it won't leave
a mark on Silestone. Silestone is not scratch-proof, however,
and can be damaged with excessive force or pressure.
· Lifetime Stain WarrantySilestone does
not need to be sealed to retain its lustrous shine and is
highly resistant to stains such as wine and coffee because
of its non-porous surface.
· Heat Resistanceit will withstand limited
exposure to heat without burning or scorching. The fire of
a lit match will not mar the Silestone countertop. However,
as advised by crock-pot and electric skillet manufacturers,
do not place these items directly on any countertop. Always
use trivets when placing hot items on a Silestone surface
to avoid thermal shock.
